Breast enlargement operation is increasing the volume of the breast by placing breast implants under the breast tissue. This can be applied structurally to small breasts, or to hollow breasts as a result of extreme weightloss and postpartum.
Silicone implants are used in breast augmentation operations. There are round and anatomical (tear drop) types of implants. In recent years, “Cohesive” gel types of gel implants have been produced. Even if the outer shell is torn in these implants, the gel silicone does not dissolve and it maintains its shape.
Silicone breast implants are usually placed through a small incision made from the side or the bottom of the breast. Depending on the size of your chest, it is placed behind the chest tissue or behind the chest wall muscle prepared for the implant. The structure and width of the chest wall are important determinants in choosing the right breast size while the patient’s requirements are taken into account. The goal is not to create exaggerated large breasts, but natural looking breasts in form and size suitable for the body structure.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and the patient can be discharged on the same day or the next day. Breast implants can be used for many years. Unless there is a problem they don’t ever have to be changed. In case of post-operative birth, the mother can breastfeed as normal.
